My background is in education. I spent five years teaching music at a Title I school in Southeast DC, designing lessons that could reach students dealing with significant adversity, which meant getting very good at understanding what it takes to hold someone’s attention and make learning feel worthwhile.
When COVID-19 hit during my final year in the classroom, many of my students lost access to the technology other kids in the district had. I responded by launching a YouTube channel, Music with Miss Bliss, to provide free, high-quality music lessons to students and teachers regardless of their resources. The channel monetized within six months and has since surpassed 500,000 views. It also taught me something that changed the direction of my career: how to use audience analytics to make better content decisions and how to design for engagement at scale.
That insight led me into social media work. I began managing content for small businesses, applying the same core discipline I’d developed as a teacher: understand your audience deeply, and design everything around how they actually pay attention. Around the same time, I returned to my instructional design roots through a learning experience design role with Cre8tion, a done-for-you course creation agency, where I translate subject matter expertise into structured, learner-centered curriculum.
Today I work across social media strategy, learning experience design, and private music instruction. The throughline across all of it is the same question I’ve been asking since the classroom: what does this person need to know, feel, or do, and what’s the best way to get them there?
